The City of Delta is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team and share in our commitment to lead the way in public service excellence.


The City of Delta is looking for qualified Facility Service Workers to fill in regular full time roles at facilities in North Delta, Ladner and Tswawassen.

The position involves supervising and participating in the work of a group of subordinates engaged in building and equipment maintenance, janitorial, refrigeration, pool maintenance and ice-making work.


Responsibilities:


  • Performs a variety of operational maintenance and repair duties relative to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, ice making, filtration, chlorination and related support systems.
  • Plans, assigns, schedules, checks and participates in the work of a group of subordinates and trains new employees and participates in the hiring of new staff.
  • Establishes and maintains preventative maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment.
  • Coordinates and carries out tests and inspections of water quality in swimming pools to ensure compliance with provincial standards.
  • Coordinates with contractors and tradespersons on minor repair and maintenance projects and ensures compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Prepares budget estimates and monitors expenditures.
  • Receives and responds to service requests and work orders.

Desirable Training & Experience:


Diploma in recreation facility management or a related discipline preferred, supplemented by technical courses related to the work, plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.


Required Qualifications:


  • Pool Operator Certificate, Level II
  • Refrigerator Operator Certificate or equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia
