This position is effective immediately.
The York Region District School Board (YRDSB) supports a flexible working culture and currently provides the opportunity for employees to work from home in addition to working in the office for some positions.
In compliance with Board policies and procedures, responsible to implement data management strategies and conduct statistical analyses for research and evaluation projects related to system priorities, provincially mandated initiatives and accountability requirements, and department and school requests.
Responsible for maintaining and managing large scale longitudinal databases in Research and Assessment Services, preparing data extracts, conducting statistical analyses and preparing system and school-based data reports.
Responsible to develop and maintain Research and Assessment resources, reports and other materials in formats for posting electronically on such sites as the YRDSB web site and Intranet.

Salary:
$78,497 - $93,825
Work Schedule: 35 hours/week

MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES:
To assist in the design, implementation and management of research projects and evaluations to support school and Board planning and decision making.
To consult and provide support to with school and Board staff as needed to clarify the user requirements for data collection, analysis and reporting.
To prepare and analyze assessment data including producing summary reports.
To prepare system and school-based data reports using a variety of technologies and formats (i.e. Power BI, web-based, hard copy, graphic, written).
To prepare data extracts, longitudinal student tracking and conduct quantitative analyses of data to support system and school-based projects related to accountability, school and system planning for continuous improvement.
To program and oversee the operation of technologies for processing survey data using a range of technologies (i.e. web-based survey tools and/or optical scanning).
To liaise with external data processing companies, as required, and ensure data quality.
To maintain a collection of current research and evaluation resources related to data management, web design and the use of other technologies related to the operations of Research and Assessment Services.
To perform other duties as assigned.
LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible to the Manager, Research and Assessment Services.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
A four year university degree or college diploma in computer science or a related discipline is required.
Minimum five years in an educational or related applied research setting is required.
Strong facility in using and learning a variety of software is required. Computer programming skills with Microsoft Net are an asset.
In-depth knowledge of SQL and Procedural SQL languages.
Strong working knowledge with Office 365, Power BI (or alternative tools such as Tableau etc.), R (or alternative scripting contexts such as Python), SPSS, SurveyMonkey and Thoughtexchange (or alternative tools such as Qualtrics), GIS Software.
