REPORTS TO:
Manager, Human Resources

***: The Human Resources Generalist will support the Human Resource department, front line staff, and Management team with respect to all human resource functions including, but not limited to: recruitment strategies, hiring, training and development, retention and recognition, occupational health and safety, disability management, accommodation, performance management, labour relations, and policy development.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Recruitment, Selection & Hiring Strategy

  • Develop and execute Agency wide strategic initiatives for recruiting and attracting top talent.
  • Establishing and maintaining relations with strategic recruitment partner agencies and educational institutions and organizations to establish joint programs services or initiatives.
  • Partner and maintain relationships with relevant institutions to build talent base and drive recruitment process.
  • Review and recommend improvement to recruitment practices and ensure they are applied through the entire recruiting process.
  • Manage various recruitment, reference check and onboarding systems.

Training & Development

  • Work in partnership with supervisors and HR Team to update and implement Agency Orientation materials.
  • Conduct needs assessment, design, and deliver training for various staff in partnership with the HR team and coordinate external trainings as needed.

Employee Engagement, Recognition and Retention

  • Working closely with the HR Manager and HR team members, develop and implement HR strategic programs that will drive increased employee satisfaction and commitment levels.
  • Lead formal and informal recognition efforts and events to promote community and honour the staff experience and contributions.
  • Plan, implement and attend various employee recognition and engagement programs including all staff meetings, trainings, and special events.
  • Oversee employee exit program including conducting exit interviews and analysing trends and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Work in partnership with employee assistance program to provide various training and ensure engagement with staff.

Health & Safety, WSIB, & Return to Work Management

  • Collect and manage staff incident reports, review reports for root cause findings and recommendations. Analyse incident trends and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Ensure timely reporting to the WSIB and provide ongoing claim management.
  • Manage staff leave of absences and help facilitate a safe return to work.
  • Conduct and lead accommodation and return to work meetings with various stakeholders; promote inclusion and compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Lead and attend quarterly Joint health and Safety Committee meetings, prepare agendas, incident reports, training, and minutes as needed. Act as point of contact for Agency Health and Safety Reps.

Employee & Labour Relations

  • Provide HR support, advice and expertise, while developing strong relationships with managers, supervisors and staff in multiple locations.
  • Provide consistent and equitable interpretation of collective agreements, Agency policies and procedures, relevant laws and regulations.
  • In partnership with the supervisor and or manager, support investigations and development of performance improvement needed.
  • Analyse employee relations trends and partner with internal stakeholders to improve Agency processes and develop proactive strategies, programs, and policies.
  • Liaise with union representatives to promote a cooperative and effective labour relations climate.

General

  • Support and or lead special projects and the implementation of new systems and processes to improve the efficiency of the department operations.
  • Maintain optimal attendance at work
  • Work evenings and weekends when required.
  • Work in compliance with all applicable regulations and laws and comply with all Macaulay policies, practices and quality standards.
  • Work to further Macaulay's mission, vision, values and strategic directions.
  • Perform other tasks as delegated or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • University or College diploma/certificate in the area of Human Resources
years human resources experience.

  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) an asset.
  • Confident in dealing with people at all levels, excellent rapport building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective work partnerships with colleagues of diverse backgrounds, abilities and identities.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of integrity, initiative and problem solving with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
