As one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, Fresh Direct Produce is looking for a QC Technician in Kent, BC to join our team Are you looking for new opportunities for growth? Would you like to be part of a dynamic and entrepreneurial team? Reporting to the QC leader, the job holder, utilizing their fresh produce knowledge and skills, will work with the Operations team to foster a well-organized product quality control process and cooler management.

The incumbent will also contribute and support other Operations duties as needed. Some weekend work is required.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALITY CONTROL

  • Assist QC leader with daily quality control and inspection for all incoming, inhouse, and outgoing products
  • Sample test and brix of products when required
  • Identify quality issues in a timely fashion and then determine courses of action
  • Conduct daily cooler walks and product quality checks
  • Monitor the consignment inventory
  • Assist with product grading and monitor all product disposal
  • Assist QC leader with all CFIA requests and inspections

OPERATIONS

  • Work with the Grading Team Leader to set benchmarks for grading efficiency
  • Ensure proper cooler organization
  • Product rotation via FIFO method (First in/First out)
  • Provide training to junior Graders
  • Assist with the repacking equipment operations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive produce knowledge local & imported products; retail produce experience is a definite asset
  • Experience in repacking processes
  • Use of electric pallet jacks and/or forklifts
  • Good numerical skills
  • Detailoriented and methodical in documentation and processes
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Thrives in a fastpaced environment
  • Handson individual with a strong work ethic
  • A selfstarter, a team player, and a finisher
  • Openminded, flexible, and able to adapt to a multicultural work environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency in English (spoken & written)

Physical Capability:


  • Requires frequent walking and standing for extended periods of time
  • Working inside and outside coolers
  • Lifting and carrying of up to 50lbs
