    Administrative Full-time New Position

    Reporting to the Director, Donor Relations & Stewardship, the Associate Director, Donor Relations & Stewardship will bring a donor-centred mindset, establishing and maintaining connections and strengthening relationships with donors and corporate sponsors to Conestoga with respect to gift support. The position works with the Director, Donor Relations & Stewardship to develop strategies and operational plans required to achieve success in generating support through the cultivation, solicitation, recognition and stewardship of prospects and donors as they relate to mid-level gifts. The incumbent will provide mid-level gift support to the Director of Donor Relations & Stewardship, Senior Management, and fundraising volunteers as well as other members of senior leadership as required, in addition to assigning with special projects and assignments as required.

    Based on research, the incumbent develops lists of potential donors or prospects, cultivates donors to give to the College and stewards on-going relationships with donors, both individuals and corporations, with the intent to ensure a solid foundation of revenue is developed and increased from a growing number of supporters.

    Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a remote work arrangement, with the ability to work on campus as required.

    Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for a portfolio of 150 active, qualified prospects
  • Determine annual and multi-year strategies including developing and monitoring goals and objectives for each constituent, along with strategies to retain, secure and increase mid-level gifts based on passions and interests
  • Secure appropriate project information, including budgets, to create donor case for support, offers, and proposals
  • Coordinate with faculty, staff and volunteers to broaden the base of donor support
  • Conduct regular meetings with donors and friends of Conestoga, and attend events to continue engaging with donors and provide updates to external stakeholders on the impact of their gift and promote Conestoga's vision and mission
  • Communicate with a broad range of constituencies with the aim to cultivate, secure and recognize private support, while promoting Conestoga's reputation as an opportunity for investment
  • Attends Conestoga and community events as a senior representative of the Donor Relations & Stewardship department, including external functions, outside of regular business hours, to meet donors and steward existing donors
  • Supervise and direct a team of Partner and Experience Leaders responsible for fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events
  • Produce written gift agreements, compelling proposals and reports are produced on behalf of the College, which encourage optimal philanthropy based on donor capacity
  • Liaise and collaborate with various program staff/departments within the organization to gather program updates, success stories, and other relevant information for donor communication
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to create tailored materials for donors as necessary
  • Work with the Donor Relations team in conducting donor cultivation events such as announcements and launches, tours, lunch/dinner meetings, guest speakers, and other special event activities
  • Conduct prospect research to identify potential donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations, that align with the organization's mission and goals
  • Work closely with the Research Officer to design unique and appropriate cultivation strategies and capacity assessments based on individual prospect attributes, data mining and prospect evaluations
  • Responsible for management of donor relations budget for student awards portfolio, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maximize donor engagement
  • Qualifications:

  • Four-year Degree in Arts & Social Sciences in Business, Business Administration or related field is required
  • Minimum of nine years of experience in donor relations or fundraising, with a proven track record of successful donor engagement and ability to manage a portfolio of constituents
  • Participant/Member of CCAE (Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education), and /or AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) is preferred
  • Successful donor relations track record, including fundraising
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and reports
  • Proficient in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (e.g. Raisers Edge) and donor management software
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Knowledge of relevant legal and ethical standards related to fundraising and donor relations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build rapport, solve programs and think strategically with a diverse range of individuals
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute donor engagement plans
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and able to work independently or as part of a team
