    About the Role

    Reporting to the Supply Chain Commercial Manager, the Asset Contract Manager will have the primary role of providing strategy and planning to deliver the Asset Contracts and readiness requirements by Q4 2022, including managing the Project to Asset requirements.

    This Asset Readiness will be aligned to the Asset Management System (AMS) and specifically Manage Supply Chain (MSC), such that LNG Canada is measured as top quartile in Shell AMS matrix. This will require leadership, strong relationship management skills, broad networking and solid Contracting and Procurement skills.

    The Asset Contract Manager will undertake a visible leadership role in driving LNG Canada and its contractors to the "Safest Project on Earth" and maintain a Goal Zero requirement in the Asset operate phase.

    The Asset Contract Manager will ensure all contracts will be developed for the Asset and work closely with the Material Management & Logistics Manager to complete the Project to Asset (PtA) requirements. Key to the integration into the Asset team will be following the Asset Management System (AMS), specifically Manage Supply Chain (MSC).

    This position is instrumental to the efficient resourcing of LNG Canada with third party support and providing a vision to the future asset readiness requirements for the Project.

    This is a challenging but very rewarding position in a fast-paced mega project which plans to deliver truly top quartile HSSE, Contracting and Procurement performance, using all networks standards and tools from the Joint Venture Participants.

    A visionary (MSC North star) mindset is required with a passion to achieve a top quartile Asset organization.

    You will use your expertise to:

  • Apply HSSE leadership to portfolio contracts, align HSSE and contracting requirements, and integrate with the broader team to support the delivery of the Safest Project on Earth.
  • Deliver the Asset contracting plan as per schedule and execute all contracting requirements on time to ensure the Asset is ready for the operate phase.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding LNG Canada Contracting demand, as well as local/regional market conditions and price levers.
  • Develop contracting strategies, tactics, and contracts in accordance with the Contracting and Procurement Procedures Manual including all governance requirements.
  • Establish Contract Management Teams and associated Contract Management Plans for Asset contracts.
  • Lead in the development and maintenance of the Contracts Management relationship between the LNG Canada and Contractor teams throughout contract lifecycles, including the close out of contracts in a timely and complete manner.
  • Ensure Contracting and Procurement process, procedures, systems, and tools are maintained, and upgrades aligned to JVP requirements (particularly meeting JV agreement requirements to adopt Shell process, procedures, and systems).
  • Develop and share best practices, work processes, systems, and tools, based on experience gained in a portfolio of independent projects.
  • Develop and execute Turnaround and Brownfield Project CP strategies in line with business plans.
  • Establish solid networks within Shell Contracting and Procurement organizations.

  • To be successful, you will have:

  • An experienced CP professional, capable of integrating across all contracting roles and interface with a future Asset organization.
  • Must have excellent relationship skills, personnel leadership qualities, and leadership in managing contractors.
  • Experience working in an Asset.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge, capability, and competence in the following commercial, technical and interpersonal aspects:

  • Business, Engineering or Quantity Surveying degree, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years Contracting and Procurement experience.
  • Demonstrated Asset Supply Chain Management experience preferably in industrial Asset organizations.
  • Comprehensive understanding and application of contracting and procurement processes and tools.
  • Contract management & governance.
  • Strong commercial acumen/awareness.
  • Managing internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective communications at all levels of management both internally and externally.
  • Motivated self-starter with a track record of delivery to project demands.
  • This role requires that you:

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
  • Work Location: Calgary, office Location The Bow
  • Hours of Work: 40 hours, Monday to Friday, Hybrid work terms, two 2 days per week expected, designated day is Wednesday with the option of Tuesday or Thursday as the optional other day in the office.
  • Overnight business travel to Kitimat from Calgary will be required.
