Product Manager - Mississauga, Canada - Drive Products
Description
Job Purpose
The Product Manager oversees and is the liaison for their identified product lines in all aspects of the business including technical and sales support, inventory control and marketing.
Major Responsibilities
- Be the main technical support for all Drive Products personnel
- Achieve and maintain strong vendor liaisons
- Oversee and edit vendor stock corporate purchase orders
- Collaborate with the Sales Department on any exceptional quotes advising accurate landed cost factors and gross margins
- Advise and supervise any launching of new vendor's product
- Advise all necessary Drive Products personnel of product changes
- Be proactive in second sourcing and/or local sourcing of both main stream product, if applicable, and commodity items
- Oversee and coordinate the handling of all warranty items/issues pertaining to their product in order to satisfy Corporate Quality Objectives
- Oversee annual branch stock returns and if applicable subsequent vendor returns
- Oversee and coordinate with Marketing for any associated product training either involving vendors or Product Managers
- Actively involved in obtaining optimum inventory turns and coordinating all Purchasing level inputs
- Actively involved in gross margins in tune with what the market dictates
- Continually gain competitor knowledge/information
- Assist sales force when necessary
- Contributing ideas and/or comments which would continually improve Drive Products systems and procedures be it corporately or at the branch level
- Support Customer Service Department during high volume periods
- Recommend process improvements
- Participate in training provided
- Compliance with all internal Policies and Procedures including, but not limited to, Health and Safety and Quality Management
- Compliance with all regional legislation including Occupational Health and Safety
- If directing work of other employees, must be aware of all related hazards and must communicate these hazards, controls and personal protective equipment required in order to complete the assigned tasks
Qualifications - Educational Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of Product or Industry related experience
- Completion of specific course on products with Drive Products industry as required
Qualifications - Knowledge
- Comprehensive knowledge of all products required to perform duties listed above
Skills
- Ability to communicate well with both external customers and internal staff
- Ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment
- Ability to deal with customers in a professional manner
Working Conditions
Normal office and retail conditions, with some warehouse conditions. During certain periods may experience high volumes of customer inquiries and other responsibilities as listed above. Some overnight travel may be required.
