Compensation Range

$4, $6,754.00 CAD Monthly

Job Summary


With direction, plans, coordinates and implements a variety of effective and innovative online recruiting and advising services and programs for prospective international students, their parents and counsellors.

Regularly gives presentations and undertakes group and one-on-one advising, in-person or via online channels.


Provides effective recruiting and advising services to international (visa) students and Canadian students schooled outside of Canada on behalf of the University, as well as international (visa) students schooled within Canadian colleges, high schools and English language training programs, with the goal of encouraging well-qualified international students to seek admission to the University's undergraduate degree programs offered on its two campuses, Vancouver and Okanagan.

Advises international students with Canadian and international credentials concerning University admission criteria and specific program requirements for admission.

Organizational Status

Reports to the Manager, Client Services & eRecruitment in terms of overall strategy and operations.

Works closely and collaboratively with other ISI staff and in particular the recruiting teams on both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses; Staff in the Prospective Student Communications, Marketing and Social Media unit; other units in Enrolment Services, particularly the International Admissions unit and Enrolment Services Professionals; Staff within International Programs and Services; and Faculties and academic advising units.

Work Performed


  • Implements effective and innovative online recruiting and advising services In collaboration, shapes recruitment activities and content delivery to meet needs of online participants including prospective students, parents, and counselors and manages the logistics of planning the events.- Presents to prospective international students during online information events.- Assists in planning, organizing and conducting special online events such as Applicant Information Sessions or other types of online yield events, targeting newly-admitted international students.- With guidance, collects and maintains data on the origin of event participants, tracking and assessing patterns of participation, designing and delivering other assessment tools to solicit feedback from event participants to determine levels of satisfaction and overall effectiveness of program in meeting recruitment goals.- Works with the CRM system to load, tag, analyze online participation and effectiveness of eRecruitment programs.- Produces qualitative and quantitative summary reports and makes recommendations for changes and improvements International Student Recruiter and Advisor, Client Services & eRecruitment.- Works closely with the Recruitment Marketing and Prospective Student Engagement (RMPSE) team to develop innovative presentations for use during online events and send invitations to prospective students via UBC's client relationship management system (UNI).- Assists in the overall coordination of the eRecruitment portfolio.
  • Performs recruiting and advising services- Prepares and delivers effective presentations to groups large and small, proficiently using multi-media materials and other collateral to support public presentations.- Advises prospective international students and their families visiting the campus and provides post-tour advising services to students and families participating in the Campus Tours program.- Plans and delivers effective group advising sessions in a variety of settings, including online and in person.- Providing international students with a preliminary evaluation of their admissibility to their choice of program and conducting follow-up as appropriate. Conducting a preliminary assessment of an applicants' English language proficiency. Providing information on housing and other student services available to international students at UBC.
