Job Summary

A Brief Overview

Reporting to the Finance Manager, and under the direction of the Revenue and Compensation Coordinator, the Finance Clerk provides support with the financial duties as applicable to the Department.

This position is responsible for providing assistance with clinical billing and accounting procedures to the Department of Family Medicine at Queens University.

This position completes bookkeeping tasks for the department including accounts payable and accounts receivable. This position reviews delinquent accounts and sends reminders. This position also acts as a first point of contact for questions regarding financial procedures and university policies.


Job Description:

What you will do
Performs bookkeeping procedures such as posting invoices, recording receivables, posting petty cash receipts, and processing billing error corrections.

Matches receipts to payments and troubleshoots discrepancies.

Distributes invoices and tracks accounts receivables.

Validates expense amounts to ensure accuracy.

Prepares deposits (cash, cheque, debit machine), post-dated cheques, and electronic fund transfers.

Reviews delinquent accounts and sends reminders.

Reconciles accounts and maintains financial records.

Acts as a first point of contact for questions regarding financial procedures and university policies.
Orders and maintains office supplies.

Responds to patient invoicing inquiries.

Assists working groups and committees by attending and taking minutes.

Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit. Required Education
One-Year Post Secondary Certificate or Diploma. Required Experience
More than 1 year and up to and including 2 years of experience. Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Knowledge and Requirements
