    Description

    Reporting to the Project Manager, responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Be the first point of customer contact, understand customer needs, and direct customers regarding the construction of projects.
  • To develop relationships and promote high level customer satisfaction through trust, service, and integrity.
  • Maintain professional business relationships with 3rd party stakeholders such as vendors and suppliers.
  • To become familiar with all lines of merchandise handled in the Home Centre and to constantly maintain a high level of product knowledge.
  • Respond to customers inquiries by email and phone in a timely fashion.
  • To open and close the Home Centre as directed by the Unit Manager.
  • To place special orders with suppliers to fill customer requirements.
  • To forward information regarding deliveries to the shipper.
  • To be responsible for accurate billing of all merchandise sold by the employee.
  • To investigate and adjust customer complaints regarding products and services, and to refer serious matters to the department manager.
  • To provide accurate and timely estimates on project including additions, renovations, garage packages, and small projects.
  • To assist in preparing and maintaining reports as required.
  • To assist on the service counter or on the sales floor as required.
  • To perform any administrative duties as required.
  • To maintain a constant alert against the unauthorized removal of merchandise.
  • To perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

  • Must possess a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Hardware and Building Materials.
  • Must possess a recognized estimator certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Must possess sufficient experience in building materials and construction methods to effectively operate in all areas of the department.
  • Must be strongly service oriented and motivated, and capable of serving and assisting customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Must be well organized and capable of attaining a high level of production with minimum supervision.
  • Must be prepared to increase product knowledge and improve selling techniques through special courses, product clinics and training sessions.
  • Applicants must be proficient in computer-based sale software and programs (Seljax, Quotetracker)
  • Possess a sufficient working knowledge of the Saskatoon and National Building Codes.
  • Possess the ability and experience in professional selling.
  • Must be able to work mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.
