The Coordinator:
Volunteers is responsible for coordinating day to day operations of the Volunteer program at the Ottawa Humane Society. We offer a competitive hourly wage range between $23.78- $28.94, commensurate with experience.

This is a full time permanent position working 75 hours biweekly.


What would you do?

  • Support volunteer promotion and recruitment processes
  • Coordinate and deliver volunteer onboarding and orientations
  • Track required training, certifications, and documentation
  • Support and development, planning and execution of OHS volunteer programs and activities in cooperation with other departments
  • Administer the volunteer program including scheduling, communication, statistical and other reporting
  • Support the development and deliver volunteer recognition and retention programs and activities
  • Research and support OHS student and work placement plans and programs
  • Maintain communication between the volunteer department and assigned program volunteers
  • Solicit appropriate feedback on OHS volunteer programs
  • Enter data and maintain data integrity in Raiser's Edge and Chameleon
  • Support the activities of coworkers, as well as volunteer department volunteers,
students and work placements and provide orientation and training as required

  • Be thoroughly familiar with pertinent legislation, regulations, guidelines, and OHS
policies, procedures and collective agreement, and good animal care practices

  • Produce and maintain accurate reports, records, and files
  • Participate in supervision, evaluation, training and other meetings as required
  • Participate in identification and evaluation of OHS program goals and objectives
  • Participate in public relations and promotional activities as required
  • May be required to assume some of the responsibilities of the Manager: Volunteers

What we are looking for?

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Post
- secondary school diploma or certificate in a relevant field, preferably volunteer management is an asset

  • Minimum of one years 'experience supporting program administration, preferably in a notforprofit environment
  • Event coordination experience is an asset
  • Experience with recruitment and training is an asset
  • Raiser's Edge experience is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken English and professional working proficiency in written English is required

Working conditions/ Physical requirements:


  • Employee may be required to work evening, holiday and weekend shifts
  • Employment is conditional upon the ability to provide services in a safe manner, including, but not limited to, lifts and transfers of large animals and interaction with potentially aggressive animals
  • Employment is conditional upon maintaining confidentiality of OHS information
  • Employment is conditional upon the ability to work safely around all species of animals

Salary:
$23.78-$28.94 per hour
