SUMMARY


The FMI Coordinator - Field Service Representative is responsible for overseeing all Field Modification Instruction (FMI) activities in his/her assigned region.

The FMI coordinator is responsible for the Field Service technicians assigned to the territory and working on retrofits.

The individual is required to provide the following services:
ensuring safety, planning assistance, execution, oversight, and auditing of the Wabtec FMI crews.

This position is also responsible to support the process of managing the FMI material on the relevant projects on the territory.

This position is required to establish & maintain strong relationships with the Carbuilders and the Transit Authorities of the territory.


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
================================ Retrofit (FMI) support activities ===================================

  • Lead all retrofitrelated Wabtec activities on the territory.
  • Oversee, coach, and supervise the field service FMI technicians on the assigned territory.
  • Oversee and promote a strong safety culture of the Field Service personnel (FMI) on the territory.
  • Ensure all safety requirements are in place in the assigned territory
  • Organize/coordinate safety training for Wabtec field personnel.
  • Complete Risk Assessments (for all current and upcoming retrofit activities).
  • Review and comment on safety procedures for retrofit activities.
  • Audit tooling and PPE regularly and ensure the safety of the operation and the crew.
  • Perform audits on the retrofit implementation and then complete audit forms (for FMI crews).
  • Support the planning of all FMI activities with the customers and the project teams as required.
  • Review and understand design details, technical specifications, product parameters, and drawing details related to the retrofit activities.
  • Understand Wabtec training material and documents. Request clarification when needed.
  • Assist the FS Manager in performing interviews for FMIrelated open positions.
  • Recommend additional/specialized tooling to support FMI activities.
  • Perform reviews of FMI crews to optimize their activities in light of improving: safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Attend meetings at the customer sites and represent Wabtec as needed.
  • When required, buy parts/tools to keep FMI activities ongoing.
  • Ensure QRS sheets are submitted by Wabtec FMI Personnel & Supervisors.
  • Monitor and control inventories for all retrofit activities. Review and report to the management and a regular basis. Ensure activities will not get interrupted due to material shortages. Order material for support & FMI activities. Respect lead times and delivery delays to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Update FMI/PMI trackers on a regular basis.
  • Support the FS Manager as needed.
  • Report any discrepancies identified when performing retrofits.
  • Distribute all retrofitrelated drawings and documentation to technicians.
  • Support the Project Management group on technical & logistics issues, as required.
  • Support Wabtec Engineering personnel with technical feedback on their processes/designs/procedures.
  • Develop and maintain strong relations with all Wabtec transit customers on the territory.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION

EDUCATION:

  • Technical training course(s) is an asset
  • Safety courses are an asset

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a technician
  • Experience in Mass Transit or Rail is of value

OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Certified WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) is an asset
  • Exposure to design principles of systems
