BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST III
Data Warehouse / Business Intelligence Team

Edmonton, Alberta

Permanent Full-Time Position


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Captures and translates business needs into business requirements that drive the development of BI solutions.
Creates or guides in the creation of BI designs and data models. This includes using tools such as SSIS to create data models to support data visualization solutions using Power BI.
Develops or guides in the development of data transformation rules and data provisioning solutions.
Creates or guides in the creation of BI solutions (dashboards, reports, cubes, metrics, data visualization). This includes the creation of metadata in support of data and BI objects.
Leads DW/BI acceptance testing and provides signoff on behalf of the DW team. This includes the development of test plans and overseeing the execution of the test effort.
Provides training and guidance to end users in the use of BI tools and the analysis/understanding of information.
Investigate and resolve issues associated with production BI solutions. This requires strong analysis/analytical skills and the ability to extract, manipulate, and interpret data.
Handling multiple projects, initiatives, and tasks. High expectations are placed on the BIA to learn new concepts and technology quickly. Time management skills are essential to meet competing deadlines.


Desirable Skillsets:

Strong team player combined with a high degree of initiative and independence of action.
Experience with IBM Cognos tools would be an asset.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Power BI, SSIS, DAX, and SSAS.
Experience with SQL Server and provisioning to SQL Server.
Strong experience in data model design and development.
Project Management experience would be an asset.
Advanced requirements gathering, decision making, problem solving, and investigative skills.
Experience with advanced analytics, data mining, and/or statistical analysis would be an asset.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Post-Secondary degree or diploma from a recognized university or technical institute related to Management Information Systems, Business, or Computing Science is preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills combined with strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to facilitate, lead, teach, and resolve issues.

Five years of experience in a complex Business, Data Warehouse or IT environment. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Advanced level of understanding of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence including data modeling, BI solution development and performance tuning.


SALARY:
$78,409 to $99,817 per annum (includes Market Supplement)
