The University of Toronto Mississauga Students' Union (UTMSU) is a not-for-profit student organization based at the University of Toronto at Mississauga.

The UTMSU represents over
15,000 full time and part time undergraduate students and is Local 109 of the Canadian
Federation of Students.

The UTMSU advocates for a free and accessible post-secondary education, provides cost-saving services and runs online and in-person events for members.

The UTMSU is in search of a dedicated, creative, and highly motivated individual to act as a
Student Support Coordinator for the students' union.

The Student Support Coordinator will assist the UTMSU executives in membership engagement by coordinating the UTMSU Bursary Program, the UTM Food Centre, and the
UTMSU Academic Advocacy Centre, in addition to providing any other support to UTM students with an equity lens.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The specific duties of the Student Support Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Must complete a
    minimum of
    forty (40) office hours a week
:


  • Attend mandatory biweekly meetings with the Executive Director.
  • Attend monthly fulltime staff meetings and monthly office meetings
  • Ensure the Academic Advocacy Centre is fully functioning by:
  • Planning and hosting Academic Advocacy Week and other educational initiatives for UTM students to learn about academic integrity
  • Supporting students on Academic Integrity Cases
  • Liaising with the University of Toronto Departments to further advocate for students' academic rights
  • Ensure the UTM Food Centre is fully functioning by:
  • Coordinating with the VP Equity and Food Centre Coordinator to select volunteers for the Food Centre operations
  • Helping create programing for the Food Centre
  • Assisting the VP Equity with food deliveries, grocery pickups, etc.
  • Liaising with the Mississauga Food Bank and other food donors
  • Ensure the Bursary program is fully functioning by:
  • Coordinating with the VP Equity and Bursary Coordinator to plan the semester bursary programs for UTM students
  • Assisting the VP Equity and Bursary Coordinator, as well as members of the
Bursary Committee on bursary assessment

  • Sitting on the UTMSU Bursary Committee as a nonvoting member

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a friendly, yet assertive demeanor and should also have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask
  • Problemsolving skills
  • Be able to work independently (lead certain projects) and in a team setting as a team player
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools

Assets:


  • Prior experience working with or within a students' union.

COMPENSATION

Salary:

$50,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
