What will you be doing

  • Supervising, mentoring and developing the CRL construction team
  • Managing of day to day oversight of work activities executed by construction contractors on site at CRL. This includes work coordination, safety program implementation, work plan and ITP oversight
  • Overseeing the development and rollout of industry standard construction processes such as work management, safe work practices and contractor management
  • Participating in the assessment and qualification of new contractors at the CRL site
  • Working with various CNL missions in the integration and rollout of common construction processes and procedures throughout the CRL site
  • Leading constructability exercises and perform optimization of contractor schedules and estimates
  • Establishing and maintaining links with relevant site support functions to enable effective communication, planning and management of contractor/construction activities
  • Identifying and communicating the sites daily priorities and weekly key milestones
  • Maintaining an overview of weekly deliverables/milestones to ensure appropriate interfaces and support are coordinated
  • Participating in and/or leading risk reviews and contributing in developing joint CNL and contractor risk registers
  • Ensuring that projects are completed according to plan and in compliance with all applicable building, construction and safety codes and to address any changes requested by clients that may impact the work plan and the anticipated delivery of the project
  • Providing insight, perspective and technical expertise to support the development or revision of the Construction Management program and suite of Construction documents
  • Managing the utilization of a resource base (budget, people and capital assets) to achieve targets;
  • Managing department staffing, budget and as required project budgets which include various overall expenditures.
  • Providing advice on resource utilization.
  • Responsibility for the career development, succession planning and talent management of employees within the department
  • Accountabilility for the recruitment, training, evaluation, development and motivation of staff.

What we are looking for:


  • Completed a recognized Apprentice Program in addition to a recognized Construction Management Training Program, OR successful completion of a College Diploma in recognized technical programs or Construction Management, OR a University Degree in either Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering, accompanied with Project Management qualifications, OR Construction Engineering Technician, accompanied with recognized Construction Program Management qualifications, OR demonstrated equivalent training or experience.
  • A minimum of 1215 years' demonstrated progressive construction management experience with at least 5 years of recent experience as a construction manager/supervisor, ideally in a nuclear environment
  • Excellent leadership, team building and managerial skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to analyse processes and impacts, develop solutions and provide recommendations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, when required
  • Must be selfmotivated and flexible relative to work assignments; possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to interface with peers, other company organizations, and Senior Management.
  • Effective verbal and written communications are of major importance in the execution of a Construction Operations Manager role
  • Knowledge and experience in the execution of construction work activities where the safety programs of the contractor must adhere to Provincial Health and Safety Legislation
  • Knowledge and experience with construction projects that include a nuclear component would be considered an asset

Security clearance eligibility required:

Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.
