Position Overview


Reporting to the Operations/General Manager, the Estimate Writer works within our estimating department, and spends the majority of their time completing data entry tasks and working within the Xactware Software Suite.


Job Duties

  • Comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of customer service.
  • Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines.
  • Develop estimates in consistency with the BELFOR estimating standards, including creation of accurate floor plans in Xactimate Sketch.
  • Data Entry of database line items to compile Emergency, Content and Repair scopes for residential and commercial construction estimates.
  • Revise and upload reviewed and completed estimates to Xactanalysis as required.
  • Update estimate status and continual job communication within Xactanalysis as required.
  • Maintain and update Procedure Manuals as directed.
  • This role could be required to act as a "lead" periodically as designated by their manager.
  • Attend
    BELFOR sponsored operations and training courses as required.
  • Comply with all Belfor policies and procedures, and abide by all legislative requirements.
  • Proactively communicate job site conditions affecting completion of projects to their supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work within a team or independently as needed
  • Technology and Software experience is considered an asset.
  • Construction and/or insurance industry experience preferred.
  • Attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and efficiency considered as valuable assets.
  • Valid Driver's License, Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per
    BELFOR's vehicle policy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Xactimate and Xactanalysis software is considered an asset; however, training of this software suite will be provided if required.
  • IICRC certification considered an asset (WRT, FSRT, ODC, etc.).
  • Proven ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
  • Willing to work nights, on call, and weekends when requested.
  • Periodic travel may be required.

Physical Demands

  • Periodic lifting from 540 lbs, unassisted (from 515% of the time).
  • Occasional lifting from 41 lbs +, assisted (up to 15% of the time).
  • Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
  • Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks.
