    Scientist, Senior Synthetic/Medicinal Chemist (Psychedelics)

    MagicMed is seeking an enthusiastic, full-time synthetic/medicinal chemist to join our team and bring expertise in novel drug discovery.

    The ideal candidate will independently design and perform diverse organic compound and library syntheses, purifications, and analysis to advance drug discovery projects.

    This is an opportunity to contribute your ideas to early stage drug development, and have an impact in the development of novel psychedelic compounds.

    This position is based at our office in Calgary, Alberta.

    Our ideal candidate will provide knowledge of organic and medical chemistry to contribute to the synthesis of new compounds destined for a variety of drug discovery projects.

    Apply medicinal chemistry principles and SAR principles to identify and optimize lead molecules.
    Utilize modern synthetic strategies and computational techniques to design and execute the synthesis of target molecules and libraries.
    Conduct purification of synthesized compounds using modern chromatographic techniques
    Conduct research to discover, develop, refine and evaluate new products.
    Research current literature to evaluate and implement new reactions, techniques and technologies to advance the projects.
    Maintain complete and accurate record of all observations, measurements, techniques, procedures, and conclusions.
    BS, MS or PhD in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or related disciplines

    Minimum 10+ (BS), 7+ (MS) or 5+ (PhD) years' experience in drug discovery.
    Strong knowledge of organic chemical reactions, mechanisms and the ability to plan and develop complex multi-step syntheses.
    Knowledge of computational chemistry is ideal.
    Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.
