As such,
LaPrairie Works Inc (LWI) is an ISO certified Highway Maintenance Contractor. We are looking to expand our highway maintenance operations areas and are preparing a response to an RFP announced by the Provincial Government for a highway maintenance contract in the Edmonton region (CMAs 506/509/510).


Reporting to the Quality Manager, with an indirect reporting line to the Safety Manager and Environmental Officer, the HSE and Quality Control Monitor is physically present at the site of operations and ensures that quality standards are in compliance with Contract Performance Measures, monitors and ensures that all operations comply with the requirements of the Company Safety programs and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Company's environmental programs and the client's Environmental Operations Plan Framework and Management System.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Travel throughout the CMA to monitor compliance with the organization's quality assurance policies and operational processes.
  • Identify and report on process improvements to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of company operations.
  • Provide detailed QA/QC inspection reports on maintenance activities.
  • Gather and relay to their supervisor necessary information to produce performance analysis.
  • Monitor compliance with Company safety programs on the ground.
  • Ensure all operations comply with the requirements of the Safety programs, Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations and code (OH&S).
  • Identify and report on work site hazards and monitor corrective action to ensure the safety of every person at the work site and of the public traveling through the site.
  • Assist in the Incident Investigation and Reporting processes.
  • Ensure and help coordinate regular Safety meetings throughout the operations.
  • Assist the Safety Manager in ensuring the maintenance of a valid registration of the Certificate of Recognition (COR) for the Company.
  • Support the Environmental Officer on LWI compliance with the conditions of all specific environmental regulatory authorizations, approvals, licenses or permits issued for the Contract.
  • Ensure all required authorizations are obtained prior to commencing Activities.
  • Record current information regarding any required approvals, authorizations or codes of practice in the Environmental Regulatory Tracking Application (ERTA).
  • Administer and assist in the implementation of CMA specific environmental programs, ECO Plans.
  • Serve as the coordinator and inspector for the environmental programs within the Company.
  • Report all hazardous spills the Company becomes aware of to the Alberta Environmental and Dangerous Goods Emergencies line (EDGE) and the Department of Highways.
  • Compile data and maintain records according to the Contract data collection and reporting requirements.
  • Suitable experience and/or equivalent knowledge in Quality Management within the Highway Maintenance, Public Works, and/or Civil Construction industry sectors.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Regulations.
  • NCSO and/or OHS professional certification will be an asset.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning and execution skills.
  • Functional knowledge of computer technology and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean record.
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis throughout the area of operations.
