Job Description:

***:Under the general supervision of the Coordinator Support Services, is responsible for the delivery of the Support Services programs and services.

Must work with volunteers and encourage seniors to assist in job responsibilities of this position.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participates as a member of the section's service delivery team to carry out the goals and objectives of the section.
Assist the Coordinator Support Services in the operation and management of the program area.
Responsible for recruitment, interviewing, orientation, training, supervision and recognition of volunteers within the support services program area to provide appropriate matching to program applicants.
Screens and assesses program applicants to determine eligibility, need and interests.
Provide outreach information and referral services for seniors to other community programs.
Maintains uptodate records of volunteers and program participants.
Assists in addressing issues with the Telephone Assurance Program.
Responsible for program promotion and addressing inquiries.
Assists in the development and delivery of programs within the Support Services unit.
Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

Degree in a human services fields along with two years' volunteer management and supervisory experience; or
Diploma a human services fields along with four years' volunteer management and supervisory experience
Knowledge of the characteristics, needs and interests of older adults

Skills/Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
Must possess superior analytical, multitasking, organizational, customer service and teamwork skills
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective professional and working relationships with a variety of people including staff, community partners and the public
Ability to identify, understand, and meet/exceed the requirements of internal/external customers
Proven ability to function and contribute as an effective team member and to work independently
Must be at a basic skill level in word processing and spreadsheet software.
Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Must have a valid Standard First Aid and C.P.R. Basic Rescuer Certificate
Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
Must be willing to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends
Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
