The Munk School is an Extra-Departmental Unit within the Faculty of Arts & Science that proudly offers 14 teaching programs in a variety of areas of global and policy expertise.

Your opportunity:


Under the general direction of the Manager, Administration and Finance and working as a part of the Finance Team, the Financial Officer provides financial support to various programs within the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.

This is a grant based term postion with an end date on March 31, 2025, with possibilities of renewal.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Forecasting, planning and monitoring multiple complex budgets
  • Monitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations
  • Reconciling accounts
  • Preparing financial summary reports
  • Ensuring research sponsor deadlines are met
  • Monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for research agreements
  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of information

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years recent and relevant financial/accounting experience in an educational/public sector with experience monitoring budget/grants, managing various accounts, and processing payroll.
  • Experience interpreting and adhering with granting agencies' funding guidelines and policies
  • Experience in aspects of accounting including payroll, account reconciliation, and preparation of financial statements
  • Demonstrated experience completing financial forecasting analysis
  • Experience monitoring, reconciling and reporting funding accounts for grants
  • Experience with all aspects of the Financial Information System (FIS) modules of AMS
  • Experience preparing financial reports
  • Experience supporting purchasing activities
  • A broad knowledge of the University's financial guidelines and procedures and accounting/procurement practices
  • Highlydeveloped computer skills including advanced proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint), in particular FIS and Logistics modules
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong ability to work under pressure, meet multiple deadlines, and cope with a variety of tasks
  • Accuracy with figures and detailed oriented
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
