EDUCATION

  • All streams:


Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with acceptable specialization in social science, statistics, library/archival work or a law-related field.

2. "Social science" includes economics, political science, sociology, anthropology, history, psychology, geography, criminology, and other disciplines associated with social science. "Library/archival work" includes gallery and museum functions.

Degree equivalency


EXPERIENCE

  • All streams:
Experience conducting research using print or online reference tools

Experience in client service delivery

ASSET
EDUCATION

  • All streams:


Graduation (College or University) from a recognized postsecondary institution with a degree in a field relevant to the position being staffed such as library, archival, museum studies, etc.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

  • All streams:
  • Stream 1 and 2 (Archival Assistant and Reference Technician):

Experience in activities related to:

  • Acquisition ;
  • Preservation ;
  • Description ;
  • Reference services ;
  • Genealogy ;
  • Public programming ; or
  • Access to documentary heritage in all types of media (architectural, audiovisual, cartographic, philatelic, photographic, digital or any other type of documentary material).
  • Stream 2 (Reference Technician):
Experience working in a service that provides information to the public

  • Stream 3 (Genealogy Consultant):
Experience in research and using the main sources in genealogy

  • Stream 4 (Library Technician):


Experience performing activities relating to library functions such as selecting, organizing or describing various published resources such as monographs, serials, sound recordings, maps, or federal publications, in analog or digital format.

Experience in testing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and providing recommendations regarding library workflows and systems improvements.

Experience with recording data and presenting results using word processing and spreadsheet software.
