Our new
Line Locate Technician, located in Northern Alberta or BC and working in Rainbow Lake, AB
must be passionate about spending time in the field.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and perform field line locating work with the help of a Locator Assistant;
- Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field locating work, to review and manage project budgets, timeline requirements, priorities and line locating methodology;
- Act as a company representative, liaising directly with client field representatives and land owners;
- Prepare and communicate field notes, sketches, checklists and digital data in required formats for Project Managers, Land Surveyors and Drafting personnel;
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Locator Assistants working with you;
- Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, more efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology;
- Actively participate in and proactively support the advancement of the GeoVerra safety program;
- Some office work may be required in this position; and
- Other duties as assigned/required.
Required Skills, Experience, & Behaviours
- Strong working knowledge of utility locating theories and fundamentals and ground disturbance practices;
- Experience with plant site, battery and new right of way locates and scans;
- Experience with Trimble RTK or Handheld GPS would be considered an asset;
- Strong problem solving skills in a field environment;
- Effective communication skills verbal and written; ability to produce accurate and legible field notes and sketches;
- Knowledge and experience of pipeline, lease and facility construction would be considered an asset;
- Snowmobile, ATV and UTV experience an asset
- The ability to develop and motivate line locating staff and work well in a team environment;
- An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget;
- A valid driver's license and can provide a clean driver's abstract; and
- Pre Employment Drug and Alcohol Testing;
- Successful completion of preemployment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace
Working Conditions
Out of town work (possible shift work) and frequent travel required;
Ability to carry, lift and push 50lbs+ on a regular basis;
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions;
