Cookie Production - Scale, mix, portion, bake and package various cookie doughs.
Supervision
- In conjunction with the Owner:
- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of production department within the facility
- Develop and implement plans to efficiently use materials, labour and equipment to meet production targets
- Develop production schedules and maintain an inventory of raw materials and finished products
- Direct quality control inspection system
- Hire, supervise and train or oversee training of employees in the use of new equipment or production techniques
- Aptitude for mechanical work and troubleshooting
- Capacity Utilization
- Speed in manufacturing and ability to meet or exceed our manufacturing standards
- Optimize product change overs, cleaning, packaging sanitation and equipment sanitation
- Participate in and assist with equipment troubleshooting activities
- Tracking packaging materials for usage/loss rates, maintain packaging machine logs, and participate in process improvement initiatives
- Optimize manufacturing schedules according to client deadlines, raw material availability, finished goods inventory and equipment cleaning needs
- Quality Control
- Understanding of quality control checks during machine operation, ensuring that product passes quality specifications.
- Ensuring packaging machines are in running condition, which involves basic cleaning and maintenance, minor repairs, and troubleshooting, such as oiling and/or greasing equipment as required
- Escalating problems to Manager, or the maintenance team and working with team to resolve
- Compliance
- Ensuring all legislated and company issued Policies & Procedures are followed. Governing bodies include and are not limited to WorkSafe BC, GMP, CFIA
- Operate according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for equipment and quality. Participate in creation or improvement of SOP's
- Actively participating in relevant Health and Safety (EHS) programs/initiatives, complying with environmental health and safety standards and procedures. Acts in a manner consistent with health and safety policy, which includes wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times while in production facility
- Other:
- Communicating with coworkers, supervisors, and management, either facetoface or via mail/text
- Willing and able to train on multiple pieces of equipment
- Provide onthejob training to other employees where required
- All other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English required
- Completion of High School Diploma
- 1 year of pastry and professional baking experience is an asset
- 1+ year of Supervisor experience an asset
- Strong critical thinking, analytical and effective decisionmaking skills
- Organizational skills and time management
- Ability to work autonomously and with a strong sense of ownership is a must
- Open to learning and improving own skills with a cando attitude
- Willing to work Overtime & Weekends as required for production requirements
- Electrical/Mechanical aptitude is an asset
- Valid Level 1 First Aid Certificate an asset
- Able to lift 50 lbs several times a day, as needed (we also have equipment to assist with this)
- Post Secondary degree is an asset
Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent
Compensation:
Starting rate is $20.00 +/hour (depending upon experience) + tips, plus benefits if deemed appropriate after a three month probationary period
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for general duties involving physical handling of product, materials, and supplies
- Follow the required company SOP's, GMP's, and Health and Safety Standards
- Prepare the production line for operation by filling the station with product & supplies
- Ensure accuracy of all production data including batch reports
- Effective running of all relevant equipment & reporting any equipment defects to the Manager
- Ensure the product is correctly recorded to ensure standards are followed when weighing and baking product
- Ensure all production materials are available, set up machinery, change equipment, operate & monitor equipment, and replenish materials as needed
- Determine and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate parties
- Maintain cleanliness & sanitation of equipment
