    Description

    Job Summary

    Under the direction of a more senior designer or Engineer for day to day tasks, the Junior Draftsperson will be reporting to Manager, Design office and be responsible for ensuring the proper application of engineering design and drawing practices in support of our business. The successful candidate will be working in a collaborative team environment, using 2D and 3D CADD tools for development of material handling and process equipment for both new product designs and improvements to existing equipment.

    This position is deemed a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW). A Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) is defined by the Nuclear Safety and Control Act as a person who is required, in the course of the person's business, or occupation in connection with a nuclear substance or nuclear facility to perform duties in such circumstances that there is a reasonable probability that the person may receive a dose of radiation that is greater than the prescribed limit for the general public (1 mSv per year for the whole body).

    Key Responsibilities

    Apply proper application of engineering design and drawing practices under the direction of engineers and designers.

    Adherence to approved standards, policies, and procedures.

    Produce working drawings, sub-assembly drawings and general assemblies for manufacturing, inspecting, and servicing.

    Does the necessary calculations to include the complete dimensional description of the subject and to confirm the validity of tolerances.

    Ensure technical quality and accuracy of project work and obtaining the required approvals.

    Maintain liaison with engineering, purchasing, production, and other teams to ensure design work meets requirements.

    Monitor individual design/drafting hours with respect to overall objectives.

    Performs other related duties as appropriate to this level.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience: Normally secondary school or technical school graduation plus 2-3 years practical drafting experience. A Technologist Diploma (3 years) in Mechanical or Electrical would be considered.

    Proficiency in use of Windows operating system and Microsoft Office applications

    Knowledge: Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, CSA & ANSI drawing standards

    Skills and Competencies

    Understanding of PDM and configuration management concepts

    Strong oral and written communication skills.

    Experience in use of SolidWorks or other 3D computer aided design tool

    Experience with AutoCAD 2D computer aided design tool

    Additional Requirements

    Overtime as required

    Training Required: Must complete all required training and certification as a Nuclear Energy Worker
