Job Summary:

Provide a nurturing, stimulating, safe and play-based environment that offers opportunities to all children in this licensed childcare setting for social interaction while promoting language, physical, cognitive, emotional, and creative development. The Early Childhood Educator (ECE) works in partnership with parents, co-workers, Supported Child Development Consultants, Support Workers and other professionals in helping each child reach their maximum potential. The ECE is committed to providing a high level of care and ensuring that best practices are maintained.

Qualifications, Skills & Ability Requirements

  • Valid Early Childhood Educator License to practice issued by the BC Child Care Facilities Licensing Board.
  • Special Needs and/or Infant/Toddler License is an asset
  • Experience working in an inclusive childcare environment with a demonstrated working knowledge of family-centered service, early intervention, child development, best practice and family support
  • Demonstrated commitment to Family-centered Care and a customer service approach.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multi-cultural issues, Indigenous/Metis families, family systems and culturally appropriate practices.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to problem-solve and develop strategies and course of action to follow
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with children with diverse abilities
  • Ability to organize and prioritize
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to be unbiased, open-minded, and flexible when working with children and families
  • Ability to operate related equipment and recognize when maintenance of related equipment is required.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Valid First Aid Certificate as per childcare licensing requirements.
  • Criminal Record Review acceptable to the Centre.
