Basic Requirements:


  • Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
  • Masters preparation in nursing or Masters degree in a related discipline with an undergraduate degree in nursing;
  • Member of the RNAO;
  • Current BCLS;
  • Recent experience in emergency / critical care in an acute care setting;
  • Minimum of three (3) years recent specialized geriatric experience in acute care;
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and expertise in specialized geriatrics and gerontology;
  • Demonstrated understanding of innovative models of service delivery in Senior Friendly care;
  • Experience with health assessment and clinical decisionmaking within a clinical specialty;
  • Previous research utilization and evaluation experience;
  • Previous adult education experience;
  • Previous program development experience;
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and decisionmaking skills;
  • Demonstrated leadership competence;
  • Experience working collaboratively with clinical staff to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate clinical interventions;
  • Expert communicator with strong teamwork skills;
  • Advanced knowledge of the consultation process as it relates to individuals, groups and/or system;
  • Experience as a liaison and consultant to other health care facilities/institutions regarding patient care and health services;
  • Experience providing consultation to nursing staff, managers, physicians, and other team members regarding clinical and professional practice issues;
  • Experience providing consultations to patients and families/caregivers;
  • Knowledge of the regional healthcare system in the area of geriatrics;
  • Experience participating in unitbased quality improvement/risk management programs;
  • Applies relevant research and a broad range of theories/frameworks to clinical practice using critical thinking decision making skills;
  • Ability to utilize research / evidencebased information to recommend nursing interventions;
  • Monitors, evaluates and documents outcomes of decisions and interventions;
  • Knowledge of computers including MS Office suite of software

Preferred Qualifications:


  • CNA Certification in Gerontology;
  • Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
