As a Plumber, you will:


  • Inspect, install, repair and replace pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain domestic hot and cold water system, heating water system, medical air piping system, drainage system and hospital related plumbing fixtures such as water cooled patient care machinery, sterilizers, bed pan washer, macerator, etc. throughout the hospital including patient rooms and treatment areas.
  • Will also perform an effective preventative maintenance and maintain all aforementioned equipment in a good working condition.

The Sault Area Hospital COVID-19 Health Care Worker management policy will require all our new employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to starting with us. For clarity, fully vaccinated means 14 days after completion of your vaccine series. The Occupational Health team at Sault Area Hospital requires evidence of compliance prior to you starting with us. If you are not fully vaccinated, our Occupational Health team can assist you with setting up the necessary appointments to become fully vaccinated. In addition, our policy allows for consideration of accommodations based on the Ontario Human Rights Code when appropriate documentation is submitted.


Is this the right role for you?

  • Grade 12 Diploma
  • Valid Ontario Plumbing Certificate
  • Preferred valid Ontario Steam Fitter Certificate
  • Ability to read Mechanical (plumbing and piping) blueprints
  • Must be able to perform various maintenance tasks within your skill set and experience
  • Experience with Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical would be an asset
  • May be required to undertake work on shift schedule
  • Ability to gather information, accurately assess issues, seek support and take direction as necessary
  • Team player and experience in performance based service delivery and have strong customer service
  • Ability to work in fastpaced environment and quickly develop working relationships with a broad range of individuals, both internally and externally
  • Minimum 35 years' experience
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Must have excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record required
