RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre.

Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.

The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
The person will be in charge of the exercise component of a pre-habilitation program.

General Duties
The incumbent will work as clinical exercise physiologist in a hospital setting, providing expert advice on exercise for people with a range of chronic diseases, including coronary heart disease, diabetes or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease


The incumbent will:

  • Perform fitness tests to accurately assess functional and physiological capacities,
  • Develop tailored fitness training programs adapted to patient's comorbidities and physical status,
  • Monitor inhospital training sessions and reassess prehabilitation training plans on a regular basis,
  • Provide benchmark physiological information to enable longterm training development,
  • Perform exercise data collection and charting,
  • Raise awareness of health and fitness issues and promote the benefits of sport and exercise,
  • Perform a range of investigations, including exercise tolerance tests, to assess patient risk,
  • Work directly with patients on how to make changes to their lifestyle and promote physical activity,
  • Refer patients where necessary to other specialists,
  • Work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team with other healthcare professionals such as physicians, dietitians, psychologist, etc. and allied health professionals.

Education / Experience


Education:
Degree in sports science (Bachelor's in Kinesiology or similar)
Master's degree in sports science will be considered an asset.

Status:
Temporary, part-time


Pay Scale:
$ 29,12 to $54,08/hour


Work Shift: 6 hours per week
