Packaging Team Lead - Toronto, Canada - Select Food Products Limited
Description
Purpose
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this role is a hands-on working leader responsible for running a packaging line efficiently and effectively in compliance with health and safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up, assemble, inspect and adjust packaging line on a daily basis to facilitate an efficient shift
- Perform basic inspection, clean and lubricate every equipment on assigned line
- Fills in for absent Associates on any part of the line
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical breakdowns related to high speed/PLCbased depalletizer bottling, feeding system, filling system, capping system, pressure sensitive labelling system, ink jet printing, cartooning & wrapping equipment, print & apply, case packing & Palletizing equipment
- Train Associates on equipment setup, changeover and basic troubleshooting
- Input into the performance assessment of Associates by providing feedback directly to Associates and the Production Supervisor
- Promote Company purposedriven, valuesled culture by regularly communicating with and listening to Associates
- Coordinate delivery of packaging materials to the line through the Material Handling team
- Relay pertinent information to Production Supervisor on daily basis
- Identify and implement opportunities for improvement such as updating job instructions, creating visual controls, improving area housekeeping, etc.
- Understand, comply with and support the enforcement of compliance with safety procedures and General Manufacturing Practices
- Act as back up to Supervisor when needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 3 years experience in manufacturing setting
- Experience operating multiple types of packaging equipment
- Experience managing a team or a full packaging line nice to have
- Basic knowledge of plant operations and mechanical equipment
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Some basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Control (PLC), Electrical & Sensor Technology (types, installations, trouble shooting, diagnosis and operation, etc.) nice to have
- Passion for driving results and engaging a team
Work Environment
- Must wear Safety and GMP related personal protective equipment while on the plant floor: Safety shoes, safety glasses, company uniform Hair net, beard/moustache net (if applicable)
- High lifttruck traffic
- Temperature changing environment: humidity, heat, cold
- Noiseheavy environment, personal hearing protection can be provided upon request
- Some exposure to wet conditions, slippery floors
- Exposure to food odors
- Possibility for heaving lifting, manually moving products up to 50lbs

Afternoon Shift
3:30pm - 11:30pm
