An exciting co-op opportunity awaits a motivated student at our Redwater Nitrogen site beginning May 2024 for an approximate 4-month term. This is a temporary, full-time, hourly-paid position that is open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete.

What you will do:

• Support the Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering team at the Redwater site with technical assistance and engineering
• Design, implementation, and closure of related projects using the Management of Change system
• Review, recommend, and design solutions to process hazard assessment (PHA) follow-up items
• Provide engineering support to capital project development and design
• Review and update process safety information and documentation
• Work with licensed professional engineers who will take responsibility for the work products
• Originate/support basic technical reports, analysis, and transactions by applying subject matter knowledge related to electrical and process engineering
• Spend some field time in an operating unit and at times will require climbing stairs, ladders and walking through plant operating areas

What you will bring:

• Engineering co-op student pursuing a degree in electrical engineering - preference is for work terms 4 and 5
• Ideally 2-3 work terms completed
• Ability to ascend/descend stairs and ladders, be stationary for long periods of time, and work remotely using phone and email
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to learn in fast-paced environment, organize, coordinate and accomplish multiple tasks with operational prioritization/agility.
• Basic knowledge of electrical engineering and industrial measurement
• Ability to provide creative and well thought out solutions to electrical and instrumentation engineering challenges
