OBJECTIVE:
To assist in the beautification of the cemetery while adhering to all safety programs and policies. To ensure that the needs of every cemetery visitor are satisfied promptly, courteously and fairly.


SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the Property Manager, or designated Supervisor while following Company policies and procedures, the Licensed Seasonal Grounds Person performs the following duties: grass grooming, control of weeds and insects, water plant material, dispose of refuse, perform other maintenance duties as required.

This position's responsibility is to beautify the cemetery while adhering to all safety policies and programs and performs all services in a quality manner.

Ensures all cemetery visitors are satisfied - promptly, courteously and fairly; additionally, personal professional appearance is a key factor due to the nature of the business.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
• A valid driver's license is a mandatory requirement for this position.
• Ability to lift and carry 50lbs.
• Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and be able to work independently as well as in a teamoriented environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated strong customer service skills with the ability to partner will all levels of the organization.

Assets:

• WHMIS and Health and Safety training.
• Previous landscaping and/or agricultural experience.

WORK PERFORMED:

• Groom lawn on riding lawn mower; push mower and string line trimmers to be used to cut grass in hard to reach areas; lay sod as required.
• Trim grass around fence lines and trees; remove weeds; trim and maintain area around memorials.
• Water new plants and sod to ensure survival.
• Remove garbage and dead plant material from the property; separate material and garbage for composting purposes.
• Clean and maintain cemetery buildings; sweep, vacuum and dust areas; maintain roads, equipment and buildings as required.
• If assigned, assists the fulltime property management staff in various maintenance tasks including but not limited to marker and monument installation.
• Perform other duties as required.

HOURS:
40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

From $17.50 per hour
