The Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario (CMRAO) began operations on November 1, 2017 to provide stronger consumer protection for Ontarians living and investing in condominiums.
Through effective regulation, the CMRAO strengthens the condominium management profession and helps to protect consumers in Ontario's complex and rapidly growing condominium sector.
The CMRAO is the regulatory body that sets standards and enforces the mandatory licensing of condominium managers and condominium management provider businesses.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Director, Communications and Outreach, the Communications and Outreach Specialist will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of CMRAO's dynamic and productive Communications and Stakeholder Outreach department.
The Communications and Outreach Specialist supports the development of a range of communications products and strategies, as well as the planning and implementation of outreach and stakeholder engagement activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Writing and Editing
- Developing engaging content for articles, blog posts, and video scripts
- Coordinating the production of internal and external newsletters, and other external outreach products for stakeholders
- Reviewing and editing written reports and other documents, as well as conducting background research when necessary
Web Design and Website Management
- Overseeing the daytoday functioning, upkeep, updates, and general management of the CMRAO website
- Using accessibility best practices to produce images and other graphics that are designed for optimal web viewing on all supported devices
- Troubleshooting glitches and technical errors on the websites, and interfacing with the Information Technology team when necessary
- Recommending and implementing improvements related to the overall organization, usability, accessibility, and effectiveness of the CMRAO website
Social Media Management
- Leading the engagement of online communities, including responding to comments and messages received over multiple social media platforms
- Assisting with the development of social media content
- Identifying opportunities to improve outreach to relevant stakeholders
Graphic Design
- Assisting with the design of graphics and other design materials using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat)
- Managing the organization's visual identity standards to ensure that all outgoing communications meet established standards
Communications Team Project Management
- Assisting with the management of communications projects
- Coordinating incoming and outgoing translation requests
- Monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of communications and outreach activities
- Updating internal databases and platforms
- Coordinating printing and production of marketing and communications materials
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of postsecondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Graphic and/or Web Design, or related field
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience working in a similar role
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and willingness to be part of a productive and highfunctioning team
- Strong writing skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
- Wellorganized and able to meet demanding deadlines and juggle priorities as needed
- Exceptional team player who is also able to work independently
- Capacity for problem solving and an ability to troubleshoot and propose solutions to issues
- Understanding of regulatory systems or experience working with the government an asset
- Knowledge of web and social media analytics tools
WORKING CONDITIONS
The CMRAO operates in a hybrid environment where staff are required to work from the office two days per week.
