HEAD OF AEROSPACE QUALITY COMPLIANCE AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

An exciting new role heading quality compliance and continuous improvement in a growing agile company

Job Summary


Reporting to the President and CEO, the duties of the Head of Quality Compliance and Continuous Improvement shall oversee all aspects of the Quality Management System, including execution and adherence, while ensuring products and services are produced in compliance with all internal, customer, and regulatory requirements, with a focus on continually improving all areas of the operation in terms of efficiency, adherence to environmental requirements, and lean principles.

The role is expected to be split 70/30 Quality and Compliance / Continuous Improvement.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance to applicable regulatory requirements as well as customer QMS requirements;
  • Acting as the Management Representative for Manufacturing (as per AS9100);
  • Acting as the liaison for Transport Canada, other aviation authorities and customer quality/certification request;
  • Ensuring systems are in place to handle nonconforming product, calibration of equipment, documentation of product builds, transfer of design changes to the manufacturing floor, supplier performance;
  • Ensuring personnel are trained on the Quality Management System and its processes, overseeing the document control and change control system;
  • Managing the Corporate Numbering Standard and issuing numbers as needed;
  • Ensuring there is a document control system (including the Controlled Copies, posted documents, Master Files and Master Lists) in place;
  • Managing internal auditors and coordinating both internal and external audits;
  • Managing the Corrective and Preventive Action system;
  • Coordinating inspection and testing procedures for material, process and finished goods;
  • Implementing control systems to ensure consistent quality standards are achieved;
  • Overseeing the Material Review Board;
  • Developing and leading continuous improvement activities, projects, and ensuring desired results are achieved;
  • Assisting in the development and qualification of new products;

Minimum Requirements

  • A combination of relevant education and experience in both quality and continuous improvement;
  • Computer literacy including knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and Access;
  • Good organizational skills in terms of understanding process, priorities and follow through;
  • An understanding of the business implications of quality actions/decisions;
  • A strong work ethic, coupled with business integrity, respect for internal and external customers and a drive to meet and exceed commitments;
  • A commitment to the concept of ongoing quality improvement;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Experience in the aviation industry (not a requirement, but a decided advantage);
