As a researcher in mineralogy/geology, you will be called upon to conduct mineralogical studies to support the mining development projects of Corem's clients and members, to optimize their mining operations, and to carry out projects aimed at developing innovative technologies in geometallurgy/mineralogical analysis applied in one or more of Corem's fields of expertise, i.e., fragmentation, physical separation, flotation, extractive metallurgy, agglomeration, and thermal processes.


More specifically:


  • Carry out mineralogical characterization work, as an expert in mineralogy/geology, used to design the various stages of the valuable mineral concentration processes;
  • Carry out mineralogical studies to help solve problems related to the processes already in place;
  • Participate in the development, adaptation, and implementation in the industry of innovations related to existing processes such as improved operating modes and flowsheets, new equipment, and online measuring instruments;
  • Assume all tasks related to the realization of research projects within multidisciplinary teams: proceed to the analysis of the clients' needs, identify the technological challenges to be met and the expected benefits, develop solutions and implement them;
  • Write technical reports and present the results to Corem's members and clients.

Requirements:


  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in science or engineering, preferably with a specialization in applied mineralogy, geology, geological engineering, mining engineering or Earth sciences;
  • Knowledge of thermal processes will be considered an asset;
  • Proficiency in mineralogical characterization tools, including the Mineral Liberation Analyzer and optical and scanning electron microscopes;
  • Knowledge of Xray diffraction and electron microprobe analysis techniques;
  • Strong skills in understanding and interpreting data from geological and petrographic work completed, among others, with automated methods (MLA, QEMSCAN, etc.);
  • Skills and knowledge in R&D project management: propose work plans, control budgets and schedules, write progress reports, and supervise teams.
