    Your opportunity:

    Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Lab Coordinator is responsible forthe smooth day-to-day operation of the lab which is involved in the acquisition of data on social interactions, intergroup relations, and psychophysiology. The incumbent ensures participants and/or testing rooms are booked accurately, that forms are available to sign and payments/participation credits are issued. Position posts ads to recruit study participants; prepares test materials to specifications; schedules and keeps track of participants' appointments and their compensation; interacts with research assistants to exchange information and provide orientation on lab practice. The Lab Coordinator is responsible for general maintenance of the research lab; ensures supplies are adequately stocked; compiles receipts and forms; ensures reference libraries maintained; lab manuals updated and maintained; files/website updated; backs up information weekly; contacts departmental IT staff to ensure programs and computers run properly. Additionally, the Lab Coordinator performs administrative duties such as maintaining a tidy lab environment, and providing routine administrative support to PI, compiling and verifying information used for ethics protocols and grants, maintains up-to-date information on website and CV , and serves as lab contact with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other PIs for studies.

    Your responsibilities will include:

  • Proofing and posting adverts to recruit applicants, scheduling study participants, booking rooms
  • Applying established ethics standards when running experiments, informing Principal Investigator of concerns or setbacks
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
  • Providing orientationto lab users/students on work procedures and practices
  • Recording and tabulating experiment results, maintaining a database
  • Maintaining information on a website
  • Recording or verifying transactions on a single account, ordering supplies with approval
  • Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years' of relevant experience in a research lab or as a lab coordinator with knowledge of research methodology
  • Experience working with participants and collecting data/samples and interacting with participants and students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to values of equity, diversity and inclusion and to fostering an inclusive environment
  • Demonstrated skills in trouble shooting various technologies along with website maintenance
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time-management, organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Assets (Nonessential):

  • Demonstrated knowledge in R, AcqKnowledge, Inquisit, Javascript, or WordPress preferred
