As a key member of the Research team, the Research Writer and Coordinator will assist with research, writing, data analysis, and coordination of ECO Canada's research initiatives— from initiation, planning and implementation to reporting, dissemination and evaluation.

While each member of ECO Canada has individual responsibilities, ECO takes a team-based approach.

Everyone is encouraged to take ownership of his/her ideas and to see them through to completion, collaborating with key influencers as required.


Responsibilities
The Research Writer and Coordinator position supports the various types of research within ECO Canada, including market, policy, social and economic research


Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with research, writing, data analysis and report production.
  • Write, review, and edit research reports and supplementary materials. This includes report proofing and data checking.
  • Create insightful visual representations of data collected from different research methodologies including surveying.
  • Conduct secondary research.
  • Design, develop and roll out surveys with guidance from the Research Team lead.
  • Conduct and transcribe oneonone interviews and focus groups.
  • Respond to data requests and provide support to peers and leaders.
  • Assist the Research Team members with the organization and coordination of research projects and initiatives.
  • Organize, attend, and record stakeholder and team meetings.
  • Prepare necessary materials for meetings and outreach activities.
  • With guidance from the Research Team Lead, maintain and monitor project plans, project schedules, work hours, budgets and expenditures.
  • Prepare project reports with guidance from the Research Team Lead.
  • Undertake project tasks as required. This may include assisting the Director of Research, Research Team Lead and/or Competency Manager with the development and submission of project proposals.
  • Provide administrative support as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Education

  • Able to write well in both a traditional technical style and in a lighter "popularized" style.
  • Knowledge and skills in traditional and innovative research methodologies.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a program requiring courses in research methods and statistics.
  • Two or more years working with market, economic, policy, or social research data including analysis and reporting.
  • English/French bilingual is considered an asset.
  • Project coordination experience considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, including data mining and statistical analysis.
  • Computerbased skills in database management and survey tabulation.
