Purpose:


The Centre Coordinator role for MTEC (Manufacturing, Technology & Entrepreneurship Centre) is responsible for providing administrative support to the MTEC Co-Directors as well as coordinating programs and initiatives, and the administration of financial reports for the centre.

The role coordinates the Centre's activities, speakers' series, research and industry events and programs/projects, and supports the center's (aka ORU (Organized Research Unit)) members and the Centre's governance structure.

MTEC seeks to combine multi-disciplinary research and studies using manufacturing, technology, and entrepreneurship to address some of the challenges faced by industry.

The centre will facilitate industry partnerships with start ups, OEM and SME in areas ranging from smart material, flexible manufacturing, AI and entrepreneurship.


Education:


University degree in science or engineering, or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks.

This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.


Experience:


2 years of related work experience in an academic and/or industry, supporting and developing research projects related to MTEC (Manufacturing, Technology & Entrepreneurship).

Experience should include financial and administrative support including event coordination and outreach, and liaising with funding agencies, industry, and academic institutions.


Skills:

Efficient communication skills, ability to produce clear and concise documentation and reports. Acting with tact and diplomacy.
Financial administration skills for assisting with preparing budgets, monitoring and reconciliation.
Project coordination skills to coordinate Centre's operation, multiple research projects and events.

Proven ability to work successfully with a wide range of stakeholders including researchers, students, staff,community groups, and private / public-sector organizations.

Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of a team.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) factors.
