Position Overview:


Principle Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Prepare, manage and oversee the operating and capital budgets for the IT Department.
  • Provide budgetary reports to the Chief of Police and Police Board of Commissions when needed.
  • Analyze the information needs of Prince Albert Police Service and develop technological solutions to satisfy those needs.
  • Manage the implementation and integration of existing and future IT infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with all internal and external agencies. Oversee the acquisition, installation, support training, maintenance, inventory and control of all software and hardware used in IT Department.
  • Supervise, schedule and manage the performance of employees assigned to the IT work unit.
  • Develop policies and procedure, and service level commitments related to Information Technology and Services.
  • Liaison with partner agencies in regards to operational troubleshooting, upgrades, and user access management as per agencies policies and guidelines.
  • Management of civilian employees. This includes scheduling, coaching, training, performance assessments, and weekly meetings.
  • Management of Court packages for disclosure and management of data entry according to the Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) policies and guidelines.
  • Creating job postings and interviewing of civilian employees.
  • Any other duties as required or assigned.

Required Qualifications:


  • University Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or a related field.
  • 3 plus years progressively responsible supervisory experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to team work.
  • Selfdriven and ability to work within deadlines with mínimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond in a fast paced environment.
This is an Out of Scope, Civilian position, with the Prince Albert Police Service. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:45pm (7.75hrs/day) with every third Friday off.
