Description

The role of the Inventory and Purchasing Coordinator is to support a smooth execution of purchasing activities across the company that will result in correct product and services according to deadlines and cost as needed by each department.

The position also manages an accurate account of company inventory, as well as overseeing distribution and receiving.

Success for this role requires a high level of organizational skills and attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a mastery of communication and problem-solving skills.

The Inventory and Purchasing Coordinator will report to the Controller.


What You Will Be Doing

  • Authorize payments, returns of merchandise, and pricing.
  • Oversee distribution and receiving.
  • Organize and locate inventory in databases and online systems.
  • Coordinating and managing all activities during the purchasing process, such as creating purchase orders, monitoring transportation and invoice creation and followthrough.
  • Analyze and monitor internal, economic, and consumer trends to forecast sales and inventory.
  • Administers cycle counts and semiannual full physical counts; prepares reports of inventory balance, shortages, and other financial data as required.
  • Layout storage space in a productive, logical manner and maintain it in the same manner.
  • Negotiate with vendors for optimal pricing contracts.
  • Follow up on deliveries and initiate expediting orders when necessary. Contribute to plant efforts to improve quality which includes development, implementation and maintenance of standards.
  • Liaise with accounts payable: Matches all suppliers' invoices with appropriate bills of lading and PO's for payment on a timely basis.
  • Issue request for quotes on inventory replenishment, new equipment, tools, etc.
  • Rectify receiving issues, overshipments, and damaged products.
  • Populate Fishbowl with new parts and products on an asneeded basis.
  • Provide support, training, and coaching feedback in distribution and receiving as needed. Adheres to company policies to lead by example.

What You Will Need

  • Postsecondary education and/or previous work experience in supply chain or purchasing is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience.
  • Must be physically fit and willing and able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Current driver's license with a good driving record (occasional delivery between company locations).
  • Strong computer skills; experience setting up and using an inventory management system.
  • Intermediate to expert level Excel.
  • ERP Experience is considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, relationship building and telephone skills.
  • Strong competency in reading and writing in English, as well as strong numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems and make decisions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented and understands the importance of accuracy.
  • Possesses a positive attitude and good work ethic.
  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity and professionalism at all times.

Job Type

  • Fulltime Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm
