Want to work in a fun, casual kitchen with awesome staff Daytime hours with full benefits. Meaningful work cooking for clients with mental health and addictions background. Drivers license required

Hours: 37.5 hours per week plus additional hours to cover holiday absences. Regular shift starts 10am until 6pm Wednesday to Sunday.

Pay Rate:
$20.50 per hour, benefit plan after three months, and optional defined benefit pension plan


Position Description:


Reporting to the Food Services Coordinator, the Food Services Worker is primarily responsible for assisting in the production and delivery of healthy and attractive meals to clients at different sites of St.

Michael's Homes to aid in their recovery from the impact of addictions.


The Food Services Worker assists with all Food Services activities, including menu planning, inventorying, ordering, receiving, storing, cooking, disposing, cleaning and delivering meals.

The Food Services Worker complies with applicable food safety policies and best practices.


Responsibilities include:

  • Assists the Food Services Coordinator in the execution of his/her duties
  • Assists in planning the menus for a four week cycle
  • Completes daily inventory of foodstuffs at other sites
  • Packages, stores, transports, and delivers meals and foodstuffs to other sites
  • Prepares the weekly list for ordering
  • Cleans food storage, preparation, and delivery facilities
  • Models best practices in Food Services and articulates these to Food Services Staff and trainees, and other staff and clients
  • Occasional supervision of volunteers
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum G2 driver's license with clean driver's abstract to drive company van
  • Two years' experience in Food Services and/or Hospitality
  • Possess basic computer skills, specifically in Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Awareness and appreciation of client needs specific to the addictions and mental health field
  • Completion of standard staff training modules
  • Food Handler Certification
  • Experience cooking for large groups
Working Conditions

  • Ability to attend regularly scheduled meetings and engage in impromptu supervisory conversations
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of the day
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. / 23 kg.

Employment requirement of three valid doses of a COVID-19 vaccine series approved by Health Canada (the World Health Organization (WHO)) at least 14 days prior to start date.

Experience:


  • Food Services/Hospitality: 2 years (required)
