    Description

    PURPOSE: Responsible for the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing Company policies and practices for Seal & Design Canada Division.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    · Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions to meet current or anticipated staffing needs including ad development, posting and applicant review; collaborates with department managers to understand skills and competencies required for each position

    · Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to employee onboarding/offboarding, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

    · Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the HR Manager

    · Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

    · Assists with payroll functions as needed including processing, answering employee questions, fixing errors and check distribution.

    · Utilizes HCM system to maintain accurate employee data and documentation

    · Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training

    · Maintains compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices for compliance.

    · Continually seeks professional development opportunities to stay up to date on changes in the HR field and provincial/federal law to support continued growth

    · Oversees employee performance review system ensuring reviews are completed on time and per company policy

    · Promotes corporate wellness initiatives and supports a healthy lifestyle culture for employees through education and program offerings

    · Maintains confidentiality at all times and develops trust with all levels of employees in the organization.

    · Enforces safety policies and practices to ensure culture of health and safety; identifies safety hazards and works with management team and the JHSC on corrective actions

    · Performs other duties as assigned, including general clerical duties such as operating the phone system to answer and distribute calls, scan and index all documents, coordinate company events, manage and replenish office supplies, etc.

    · Leads by example and maintains a consistent presence within the building to ensure that all employees have regular access to Human Resources all while promoting our company's mission, vision, values, and culture.

    · Backup in accounting department for invoicing and processing payments.

    · Light administrative duties, including directing incoming phone calls and assisting with digitizing documents.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    · Bachelor's degree and/or 3-5 years of HR experience

    · Proficiency working in a computer supported environment with payroll and HR software and Microsoft Office Suite

    · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    · Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    · Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations

    · Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality

    · Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow; able to multi-task

    · Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy

    · Ability to travel to the United States for business purposes
