Tridon Communications is currently seeking a Technical Administrator Data Communications to fill a 6 month contract based at clients office in Calgary Alberta.

Job Summary:


Technical Administrator, Data Communications, will maintain systems for the collection, classification, retrieval and retention of data, structured cabling, fiber optic schematics, design drawings and as builds.

They will further be responsible for managing all technical records, images, documents, and information related to the communications scope of work.

This will include checking documents, scanning, photocopying files, and making sure that organizational documentation is stored safely and securely. The technical administrator will also write reports, archive materials, ensure seamless document access and training across departments.


Must Haves:


  • Diploma in business management, administration, or related field
  • 2 years experience in document management, archive management, or records management.
  • Experience or knowledge in data communications (fiber and structured cabling)
  • Experience with AutoCAD and basic Drafting Skills
  • End user technical training experience
  • Archival experience
  • Experience with Asset Data Life Cycle Program (ADLP) or SmartSolve or Patch Manager preferred

What You Will Do:


  • Ensure all technical documents, such as reports, drawings, and blueprints, are collected and registered in system
  • Assist the document control team with identifying technical drawings and schematics
  • Train technical staff on uploading documents into project management software
  • Train employees in the controlled document processes to ensure correct handling of documents from the ground up
  • Use SmartSolve Document Management for everyday operations, maintenance, and quality control
  • Notify personnel of updated document versions and how to access them
  • Work with documents and records across various departments, including marketing, and construction
  • Implement and update records classification, retention, and disposal scheduling plans
  • Classify, code, crossreference, log, and store records
  • Develop document inventories and maintain indexes for classification systems
  • Operate information retrieval systems to research and extract records according to established guidelines in response to requests
  • Label, prepare and transfer information files according to established records management lifecycle procedures and schedules
  • Maintain access lists for security classified records
  • Compile statistics and reports on activities within records management services.
  • Manage and maintain all controlled company documents
  • Update and control procedure documents and forms
  • Create and manage document hierarchy and process systems
  • Frequently conduct document audits confirming they are current and accurately reflect recorded evidence
  • Ensure revised documents are accessible
  • Conform to company enforced specifications and document control procedures
  • Oversee document through its entire lifecycle (inception to archival)
  • Check and edit incoming documents and prepare for distribution
  • Ensure proper organization and security of documents (paper and electronic)
  • Log document requests and help retrieve documents as needed for employees
  • Make available, notify, and distribute documents to relevant recipients
  • Confirm delivery of documents to proper personnel
  • Collaborate and communicate with managers and project leaders
