The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a co-op student/intern to support projects & initiatives being implemented as part of our Data & Analytics strategy for the Fall 2023 work term (September to December).

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
The Corporate Data & Operations department delivers centralized, corporate business services that require partnership and integration across BCI departments. This role will work in the Data & Analytics team, which delivers analytics solutions (e.g. reports and dashboards), curated re-usable datasets, data science, data platforms, and data governance.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING- Supporting the implementation of Data & Analytics projects and initiatives- Creating reports and dashboards using Power BI and SQL- Creating re-usable curated datasets using SQL- Work with Data & Analytics team to drive data literacy across BCI

THE IDEAL STUDENT- Has a keen interest in data & technology and is a self-starter- Demonstrates they are a team player, but can also work independently- Demonstrates an extremely strong work ethic and displays initiative to strive to deliver value above and beyond the job description- Comes up with creative ideas to improve the business reporting process

REQUIRED SKILLS- Exhibit a high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, excellent product quality, and attention to detail- Has an interest in data, a dedication to hard work, commitment to the highest ethical standards, and an eagerness to learn- Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook- Familiarity using Microsoft 365 tools such as One Drive, SharePoint Online, and MS Teams would be an asset- Familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI- Ability to read and write basic code scripts in SQL

THE DETAILS- Work term: Fall 2023 (September to December)- Department: Technology- Office Location: Victoria or Vancouver, BC- Spend your off hours exploring the West Coast vibes in Vancouver or Victoria- Travel: if coming to Victoria or Vancouver for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location- All co-ops/internships will need to be completed in person at our Victoria or Vancouver office.

We are piloting a hybrid program whereby employees may work from home up to two days per week. Please note, some positions are not eligible for hybrid work.
