    Description
    *JOB SUMMARY*As House Person, you are responsible for cleaning and maintaining public areas of the hotel per House person checklist and responding to guest requests in order to deliver outstanding guest service in accordance with Marriott Standards. This is a unionized position.

    *JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*· Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to WHIMIS regulations and hotel requirements. Ensure bottles have proper labelling.

    • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and general appearance of public areas and corridors of the hotel.
    • Removing dirty linens from the hallway and placing down the chute.(when needed)
    • Sweeping; mopping and vacuuming floors, hallways, ledges, stairwells, Elevators inside and out elevator tracks
    • Picking up trash from parking P1 and P2- removal of garbage and cobwebs/sweeping
    • Unload truck shipments and cross check supplies with packing slips and move to the allotted storage area. Packing slip should be given to a Supervisor.
    • Move, arrange and clean the winter mats. Shampoo when necessary.
    • Snow removal at all entrances. (To be checked frequently) Assist with spreading calcium/stone around exits when needed. (Checklist to be filled out hourly)
    • Clean all landings and sanitizing stations also vending; ice machines, pop dispensers and storage and chute rooms.
    • Clean designated sections such as restrooms, gym area, gym equipment, pool, public and lobby areas, offices and bistro (when assigned)
    • Occasional assistance in cleaning the Bistro areas after heavy traffic flow.
    • Perform tasks including; dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, shampooing carpets, washing windows, cleaning/waxing floors, removing and disposing of trash and emptying ashtrays
    • Picking up the cigarettes butts, keeping the loading dock clean and clear of empty skids
    • Keeping the staff room clean; including emptying garbage and cleaning out fridge and coffee maker. Keeping cubbies and credenza clean and organized.
    • Glassware maintenance, OCEC dishwasher. Complete with protective plastic bag and "Clean" sticker. Store in glass flats/ same with coffee cups.
    • Report maintenance deficiencies and items in need of repair to a supervisor or executive.
    • Stock, maintain and clean supply rooms when necessary- list from Supervisors
    • Perform deep cleaning tasks and special projects (for example: mattress flipping, furniture moves, carpet shampoo etc.) when assigned.
    • Deliver guest requests/amenities, assist guests, and assist in cleaning guest rooms, when needed. Removal of cot beds, playpens and other items.
    • Stripping linens from beds and removal of garbage during high occupancy level or as assigned. Assist in cleaning rooms if needed. (sick calls, WSIB and Emergencies)
    • Replenish supplies, such as drinking water, linens, supplies, and bathroom items in pool and fitness areas, and deep cleaning after guest leaves.
    • Keep 14th floor storage areas and laundry area clean
    • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaners, steam and shampoo machines. Deliver and pick up dehumidifiers and blowers to affected areas.
    • Washing of walls; ceilings, and woodwork
    • Observe your surroundings to protect hotel and guest property and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors. Report any suspicious behavior.
    • Luggage assistance with guests and occasional bus tours
    • Scrub the swimming pool area floors with appropriate machines and chemicals.
    • Remove debris from driveways; planters and around building perimeter.
    • Flexible to work any shift, which includes weekdays, weekends and PM shifts.
    • Assisting Front Desk with deliveries
    • Fill out a shift report at the end of shift with checklist and requests.
    • Clean guest Laundry room and machines on the 15th floor.(removal of lint)
    • Assisting the Laundry department with folding and delivering laundry. (when needed)
    • Complete linen delivery to all storage areas.
    • To assist with inventory par stock levels. (Let supervisor or Executive know when levels are low.) Assist in linen inventory.
    • Keeping your housemen carts tidy and clean.
    • To assist new hires in orientation/training within the department. (training wage)
    • To maintain standard of punctuality, uniform/name tag, dress code appropriate to position and personal hygiene.
    • To pull the linen in the chute during heavy check out.
    • Maintain reports when carpet shampooing rooms. (BSA). Dating and signing are key for tracing work completed.
    • To contribute to the security of the building, company assets and guest/co-workers safety with full adherence to security procedures with proper handling of keys.
    • Complete other reasonable job related requests assigned by the supervisor.
    • Adhere to the Bona Code of Conduct; Bill 168 and Bill 132 and all emergency procedures. Have knowledge of the Collective Agreement Local 261 Union guide.
    • Ensure hallways and storages are clear of carts, bins, garbage, dishes and cutlery at the end of shift.
    • Keep luggage carts clean and tidy. Sanitize regularly for the guest use.
    • Proper use of break times and lunch breaks. (Breaks should be separated and not everyone at the same time.)
    • Clean hanging lamps and wall sconces
    • Other tasks as required
    *QUALIFICATIONS*· Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).

    • Ability to walk, climb, grasp, bend; and stop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 75 lbs.
