SeedGrowth Lab Associate
Contribute to the short
- and long-term deliverables of the SeedGrowth Development Laboratory through the use of specialized equipment, methodology and materials to deliver the Seed Treatment Development program. Executes lab activities in compliance with quality and safety standards.

Bayer is committed to a flexible hybrid working environment. This is a 12-month term position based out of the Saskatoon site.


What you will do:


  • Support SeedGrowth Research lab and field programs
  • Safe operation of laboratory equipment
  • Preparation of seed for treating and packaging of treated seed for distribution to trial sites
  • Production of fungal inoculum for use in field and lab research trials
  • Preparation of laboratory research materials including fungal growth media, seed germination substrates, and trial seed
  • Laboratory trial setup, maintenance, and trial takedown
  • Participate in dust off and flowability studies as needed
  • Data collection using Excel and EDC (electronic data collector)
  • Responsible for safe disposal of all lab trial waste
  • Management of laboratory inventories
  • Maintain current inventories in local and webbased databases
  • Assist in the sourcing and procurement of seed for research purposes
  • Responsible for intake, characterization, and volume management of seed
  • Assist in the management of the fungal culture collection and testing inoculum
  • Assist in inventory management of lab chemicals and seed treatment products including the maintenance of current SDS information
  • Maintain inventory of general lab consumables

Site & Administrative support:

  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance program on lab and general site equipment based on equipment specifications
  • Create and maintain listing of all capital equipment
  • Assist in the procurement of general lab and office consumable supplies
  • Ship research trial materials to field agronomists and external testing labs

Who you are:


  • Degree or diploma in agricultural/biological science or related field
  • General knowledge about seeds and plants required, plant pathology knowledge an asset
  • Experience with basic laboratory equipment and sterile technique
  • Strong computer software literacy, with experience using Microsoft Office, including SharePoint and Teams, and central databases
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Possess strong ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail
  • Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize daily tasks
  • Flexible attitude and ability to learn new procedures
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Motivated and able to work independently
