We are currently seeking a Part-Time Registered Practical Nurse to become a part of The Dunfield's compassionate caregiving team

The RPN is responsible for the care of assigned Residents and the provision of leadership/job guidance to the Attendants.

We are searching for a dedicated, compassionate and detail-oriented individual to be a vital link between our patients, Personal Support Workers and other facility staff.

Job Summary:


Under the direction of the Resident Care Manager (RCM) the RPN is responsible for the care of assigned Residents and the provision of leadership/job guidance to the Attendants.


Responsibilities:


  • Provides direct resident care, in accordance with the current and approved standards of care, care packages, policies and procedures.
  • Assess the needs of individual Residents and organize for the provision of resident care under the direction of the RCM. Participates in the formulation of the Resident Care Plan.
  • Maintains accurate records of nursing observations and procedures performed.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by resident's physician within his/her limitations.
  • Perform preadmission Functional Assessments, admit and discharge residents.
  • Ensure medical records are maintained and medications are reviewed every 6 months. Order medications from Pharmacy as per Doctor's orders, receive medications and store medications safely, responsible to maintain a clean and organized medication car
  • Assist residents with ambulation, provide emergency medical care and respond to call bells and assist as necessary.
  • Ensure daily, weekly, monthly, and annual duties of residents are completed consistently.
  • Supervise the care given by PSW's, under his/her discretion, in accordance with the Resident Care Plan, The Dunfield and provincial standards.
  • Perform duties according to the shift requirements (See Shift Duty lists).
  • Supervise residents at meals.
  • Complete incident reports where necessary.
  • Ensure that a resident care plan is established and reviewed every six months.

Skills/Qualifications:


  • A valid Registered Practical Nurse Lic

Physical Demands:


  • Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending

Working Condition:


  • Shift work, including evenings, may include weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to work from 3:30pm 11:30pm
