Your Opportunity:


The Senior Consultant is a senior leader at the University of Alberta Hospital, reporting directly to the Executive Director for Medicine and Emergency.

The Senior Consultant works with a high degree of independence and in concert with the Medicine program Patient Care Managers to plan and implement process improvement, change, and support to individuals and units within Medicine.

This position assesses program needs, identifies solutions to non-standard issues and requests, and anticipates internal and external business challenges and issues.

The Senior Consultant is recognized as an expert as it relates to process improvement methodologies, their implementation and change management.

The incumbent provides clinical, economic, policy and outcome evaluation of process improvement initiatives that advance the Medicine program to meet the AHS mission, goals, focus, values and priorities.

The position requires continued adaptation to an evolving health system.


Description:


The Senior Consultant also, aligns health service strategies of service delivery requirements within the frameworks, policies, business plans and standards/best practice that enable operational areas to deliver high quality, patient centered services.

Leads various project teams contributing to the development and execution of improved processes. Manages the scope of process improvement initiatives and alignment of priorities with corporate goals, evolving site and provincial needs/issues. Strategizes and leads creative solutions, leveraging opportunities for new service delivery initiatives and innovation.

Chairs and participates in initiative/project committee structures to establish, advance and communicate critical project processes, principles, and key performance indicators contributes to strategic planning, business case development, system design, change management and systematic evaluation of programs and services impacting the Medicine program at UAH.

Builds and maintains infrastructure, alliances and partnerships to move integration and standardization of services forward and promoting sustainable process within the Medicine program at UAH.

Facilitates the development of service plans that create service linkages between units and support areas to ensure efficiencies are optimized.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree, Experience and education in process improvement required. A minimum of five years' experience in a senior management setting or an organization of significant size. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.


Additional Required Qualifications:

As Required.


Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in health system leadership, change and project management would be an asset. Certification in Six Sigma and/or Lean is desired with a minimum of two years' experience. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
