What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:
- administer area maintenance contracts related to maintenance and repair of transportation related facilities, ensuring work is completed to contract documents and specifications
- ensure contractors maintain work records
- monitor financial forecasts and expenditures
- provide analytical support to ensure effective delivery and value for money
How do I qualify?:
Mandatory:
Road Maintenance and Construction Knowledge:
- You have knowledge of the practices, procedures and standards related to the inspection and maintenance of roads, both during the summer and winter seasons
- You have demonstrated knowledge of the repair of roads, including drainage systems
- You have working knowledge of road construction practices, techniques, equipment and material
- You have an understanding of the deterioration process of roads, sufficient to assess and determine the appropriateness of repair technique and timing
Contract Management Knowledge and Skills:
- You have knowledge of contract management and administration procedures, reporting requirements and documentation
- You have the ability to prepare cost estimates for proposed work
- You can read and interpret contract plans, documents and specifications to assist in negotiations and solve problems
Supervisory and Planning Skills:
- you have proven ability to plan and lead activities within established timeframes
- You have the ability to supervise staff and manage stakeholders in high pressure situations
Communication, Negotiation and Computer Skills:
- You demonstrate negotiation, oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with contractors and the public
