What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

administer area maintenance contracts related to maintenance and repair of transportation related facilities, ensuring work is completed to contract documents and specifications

- monitor the contractors' delivery of maintenance and repair operations
- ensure contractors maintain work records
- monitor financial forecasts and expenditures
- provide analytical support to ensure effective delivery and value for money

How do I qualify?:

Mandatory:

Road Maintenance and Construction Knowledge:

You have knowledge of the practices, procedures and standards related to the inspection and maintenance of roads, both during the summer and winter seasons
You have demonstrated knowledge of the repair of roads, including drainage systems
You have working knowledge of road construction practices, techniques, equipment and material
You have an understanding of the deterioration process of roads, sufficient to assess and determine the appropriateness of repair technique and timing

Contract Management Knowledge and Skills:

You have knowledge of contract management and administration procedures, reporting requirements and documentation
You have the ability to prepare cost estimates for proposed work
You can read and interpret contract plans, documents and specifications to assist in negotiations and solve problems

Supervisory and Planning Skills:

- you have proven ability to plan and lead activities within established timeframes

You have the ability to supervise staff and manage stakeholders in high pressure situations

Communication, Negotiation and Computer Skills:

You demonstrate negotiation, oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with contractors and the public
