JOB PURPOSE:


The Data & Process Specialist supports the reporting and process optimization work for Food Link by United Way BC and Period Promise.

Primary functions include overseeing the implementation and sustainability of data governance for the programs, working with the Food Security and Period Promise teams to update existing business processes to improve operational efficiency, facilitating reporting and quality data/information collection and management, developing and providing training/learning activities and/or resources related to data analysis and reporting; analyzing data, presenting trends and patterns and supporting information dissemination to various stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:
Data Management


  • Leads the Food Security team on Data Management, including Data Governance, Data Modelling, and Data Quality. Creating policies, manuals, guidelines and/or other tools.
  • Facilitates training and education for staff to increase their capacity for datarelevant work.
  • Maintains standardized accountability and reporting systems for Food Link and Period Promise.
  • Verifies the quality and integrity of data and information collected via Food Link.
  • Supports and manages dashboards for monitoring key metrics including community impact.
  • Creates and maintains manuals, guidelines and departmental protocols.
  • Supports program sites to meet the data and reporting requirements.
  • Liaises with the Food Security team; IT and Business Intelligence team; Marketing and Communications and community partners to provide requirements for current and future data needs.
  • Liaises with external stakeholders to ensure data integration on the back end.

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting and Analytics


  • Coordinates and assists with identifying trends and patterns through the synthesis of data as required by stakeholders (both internal and external).
  • Supports in fulfilling data and reporting requests in the daily operation of the business.
  • Identifies and recommends technology systems that allow for effective reporting, data collection and outcome measurements.
  • Conducts comprehensive analysis; highlighting key insights and recommendations to inform UWBC's Food Security strategy.
  • Produces local communitylevel and provincewide dashboards through data mining operations.
  • Leads and/or participates in organizational initiatives related to research, reporting and analytics.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Business Process Improvement


  • Evaluates and recommends business process improvements and/or tools needed to implement processes.
  • Reviews methodologies, procedures and workflows to identify areas to improve operational efficiency through automation.
  • Contributes to the development of Food Security strategies including measurement, tracking, trends analysis, benchmarking and goal setting where applicable.
  • Provides insights and recommendations for the Food Security strategy.
  • Monitors external data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Supports the Business Intelligence team in translating Food Security goals into KPIs and integrating Food Security data into the organizational data models.
  • Performs other duties related to the qualifications and requirements of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education:


  • Two (2) year diploma in Social Sciences, Data Analytics, Computer Science or equivalent education/experience
  • A diploma or certificate in Project Management or community development is an asset

Experience:


  • Three (3) years' experience as a business, technical, data analyst or related role with experience in data collection and management, accountability reporting requirements and systems or project management

Skills:


  • Proficiency in the use of databases, spreadsheets, project management tools at a moderately to highly complex level
  • Ability to accurately complete intermediate data querying/information mining (SQL), analysis activities and use associated BI Tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience with any of the following is an asset, but not required; Process Automation tools (PowerAutomate, etc.); knowledge of tools, practices, and language related to social science evaluation (i.e., logic models, evaluation plans, qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and ethical data/information gathering practices)
  • Skilled in evaluating, developing and implementing processes and procedures to achieve objectives and use data effectively
  • Ability to manage and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment by adapting and modifying sequence of work, methods, and standards to meet changing conditions
  • Strong interpersonal skills to contribute to developing a successful team environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain healthy and respectful relationships with diverse stakeholders b
