We are currently looking for Supervisor of Aquatics to join our team of committed professionals. This full-time position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario's Durham location in Sudbury.

Under the leadership of the General Manager of Health and Wellness, the Supervisor of Aquatics is responsible for coordinating the operation of programs and services in the aquatics department, including swim lessons, enrichment courses, special events, scheduling, human resource management, meeting financial targets and managing within the department budget and staff and volunteer development according to YMCA policies, procedures, and standards.

RATE OF PAY:
$51,000.00 per year


HOURS: 40 per week

Major Responsibilities

  • Participate in program delivery schedule
  • Ensure health regulations are being met at all times
  • Develop program initiatives to enhance the opportunities and services for members and participants in the program area aligned with Health, Fitness and Aquatics member retention plan
  • Communicate schedules on a sessional basis to members, participants, membership services staff and other program staff
  • Remain current with aquatic regulations and industry standards
  • Respond within 24 hours to inquiries regarding programs
  • Plan and coordinate all department special events and assist with other special events as required
  • Provide training and support to staff and volunteers
  • Assist in the development of the department budget and maintains accountability, responsibility for the department fiscal goals
  • Schedule staff and volunteers
  • Ensure all required records and documents are kept for the monthly inspection
  • Provides leadership to the level of service delivery for the department using Priority SAM Standards
  • Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization

Qualifications:


  • College diploma or University degree in Recreation, Sports & Leisure, Sport Management, Physical Education or related field
  • National Lifeguard Certification (NLS) in good standing
  • Pool Operator Certification considered an asset
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of two (2) years of working directly in aquatics
  • YMCA Trainer or Trainer Educator considered an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Current LSS Instructor Trainer an asset
  • Current YMCA/LSS Red Cross Instructor
  • First Aid Instructor Trainer an asset
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
